Apply for a Retail Permit Online

Retail permit applications are now accepted online.

  1. Visit the North Carolina Online Permittee Portal 
  2. Sign in to your account
    1. To apply for new retail business permits, select Setup New Account to start your application.
    2. Businesses with existing permanent NC ABC permits can log in using their file number and PIN to apply for additional permits or to establish a new business location.
  3. Click Apply for New Permit to start your application
    1. Select permit type(s) and enter business information
    2. Enter applicant information
    3. Print, sign and notarize application(s)
    4. Upload documents

  4. Submit your application
  5. If you are required to submit fingerprints as part of your application, you must mail or deliver the physical Fingerprint Card to the ABC Commission, 400 East Tryon Road, Raleigh, NC 27610.
  6. Track the status of the application via the Online Permittee Portal. Typical processing time is 7 to 10 days. You will be notified via email if revisions are required or when the application has been approved for payment.
